Moving Within the City, or Leaving It
Roughly half the house moves we do stay inside Greater Manchester and the other half leave it, and the two feel quite different to organise.
A move across the city is usually one day, one crew and one price, with the vans going back and forth if the volume needs it. A move out of the region is planned around the drive, and the crates go on in an order that means unloading at the far end follows your room plan rather than whatever came off first.
Either way it is the same team and the same written figure, so you are not handed to a partner firm halfway down the motorway. If the dates do not meet in the middle, storage covers the gap and gets quoted at the same time rather than arranged in a hurry later.

The volume is counted at the survey, and a family house nearly always holds more than the owners estimate once the loft, the garage and the shed are included. Counting it properly is what makes a fixed price possible.
Terraces, semis and apartments ask for different things
A Victorian terrace usually has a hallway you cannot turn a wardrobe in and a staircase with a right angle halfway up, which means more people rather than more hours. A Didsbury semi has the space but often twice the contents, with a cellar and a loft that nobody counted. A city centre apartment can be the easiest of the lot when the lift is free, and the slowest when the building gives you a one hour loading window.
The point of mentioning any of this is that we plan for it in advance rather than discovering it. You do not need to measure a hallway, count stairs or ring your building. Tell us the address and the floor, and the right crew and vehicle turn up already priced.

Crates matter more in a terrace than anywhere else. They shut without tape, stack square and carry on two handles, so a staircase with a turn in it is one trip rather than a wrestle. They arrive a couple of weeks before the date, which means the kids’ rooms and the kitchen can be done gradually instead of in one long evening, and the crew collects them once the house is straight. No flat-packed cardboard stacked in the new hallway for a fortnight.

Where We Move Families Most Often
Family moves run right across the city and out into the surrounding towns. These are the areas we are in most weeks, though the list is not a limit and the price is worked out the same way wherever you are going.
Chorlton, Didsbury, Withington, Fallowfield and Whalley Range. Large period houses with generous rooms and generous contents, often with a cellar and a loft that add a surprising amount to the count. Tree-lined streets can mean the van parks a little further out, which we allow for rather than discover.
Ancoats, NOMA, Deansgate, Castlefield and the Quays. Lifts and loading bays make these quick when the building cooperates, so we book the slot in advance and plan the loading order to fit inside whatever window they give us.
Levenshulme, Gorton, Openshaw, Moston, Prestwich and Middleton. Mostly terraces and post-war semis where the hallway and the staircase set the pace, so we bring an extra pair of hands rather than a longer day.
Sale, Urmston, Stockport, Bury, Bolton, Oldham, Rochdale and Wigan. Same crews, same pricing, no need to find a different company because one end of the move is outside the city. Moves further afield run from the same team.
Moving With More Than Just Furniture
Four things that come up in almost every family move. All of them are easier when mentioned early, and none of them need solving by you.
Worth saying at the survey. We can load the children’s rooms last and unload them first, so beds are built and familiar things are out before anything else. Plenty of families also send the kids elsewhere for the day, which we would gently recommend.
Taking them apart and rebuilding them is available and priced at the survey. Some things, particularly older wardrobes and certain flat-pack, do not survive being dismantled twice, and we will tell you honestly which is which before touching anything.
The most commonly forgotten third of a house. Mowers, bikes, tools and garden furniture all count towards the volume, so a quick look in the shed at survey stage keeps the price accurate and the van big enough.
Fridges, washing machines and dishwashers travel fine, but anything plumbed or hardwired needs disconnecting first, which our crews are not qualified to do. Arrange that beforehand and the day runs smoothly; mention it and we will remind you in good time.

How much does a house move in Manchester cost?
It comes down to the volume and the access at each end, which is why we look first rather than quoting from a room count. What you receive is one written figure covering crew, vehicle, crates and any parking, and it holds provided the load matches what we saw.
How long does a three bedroom house take?
Usually a full day with three crew, sometimes a little less if the access is easy at both ends. A terrace with a turning staircase takes longer per item than a semi with a driveway, which is exactly why the crew size is set at the survey.
Do we need to empty the loft and shed ourselves?
No, we will clear both, but they do need to be included in the survey so the volume is right. The loft and the shed are the two places people forget, and they are frequently a fifth of the load.
Can you take the beds apart and put them back together?
Yes, and it is quoted at the survey so the cost is known in advance. We will also tell you if a particular item is likely to be weakened by dismantling, because it is better to hear that beforehand than afterwards.
What happens if completion is delayed on the day?
It happens, and it is not a disaster. Your belongings stay loaded or go into storage overnight, and we deliver as soon as the keys are released. Knowing it is a possibility in advance means we plan for it rather than improvise.
Do you move plants, pets and the contents of the freezer?
Plants travel poorly and frozen food will not survive the day, so both are better in your own car. Pets should travel with you rather than with the furniture, which is calmer for everyone including them.
Can you help with packing?
Yes, from the whole house down to just the kitchen and the breakables. Two packers usually clear a family home in a day. Both options are priced at the survey so you can weigh them against doing it yourself.
