EcoGreen was appointed to relocate a compact but varied consignment from a lower-ground property in Dundee to lower-ground accommodation in central Newcastle. The scope covered nine medium cartons, a large suitcase, a shelving unit, a tall bin and a live plant.
Modest volume did not mean a relaxed method. The assignment ran on the same control disciplines used on far larger projects: inventory validated against the job sheet, access planned at both ends before anything was lifted, fragile and living items segregated in the load, and a dependable same-day delivery sequence. The Complexities: Operational Risks
Four risks shaped the plan before the vehicle was allocated.
- Lower-ground access at both ends raised the risk of restricted carrying routes, tight turns and slower manual handling.

- The small-volume format invited complacency. Every item still required a traceable load position and a controlled handover.
- The delivery model depended on a direct intercity route, leaving little tolerance for unnecessary dwell time or rehandling.
Execution and Agility: The EcoGreen Response
- The crew pre-sequenced the load by weight, fragility and unloading order, holding the plant in a dedicated upright zone.
- Vehicle capacity was matched to the recorded 0.89 m³ scope, avoiding oversized-resource cost and reducing unnecessary movement inside the load space.
- Carrying routes were assessed before movement began, loose items were stabilised, and the shelving unit was protected against edge and surface damage.
- A direct-transfer operating plan targeted 20 to 30 minutes for loading and unloading, with proactive ETA communication so the Newcastle end was ready on arrival.
The Outcome
The consignment was managed as a controlled direct transfer rather than a casual small move. The planned operating model protected a mixed inventory, reduced avoidable handling and supported an efficient Newcastle handover inside an estimated total service window of approximately 3.16 to 4 hours.
