How much notice does Manchester City Council need?
A minimum of five working days for all applications, and the council warns that failing to give that notice may result in delays or outright refusal. In practice we would rather have longer, because a city centre address often needs more than one bay and the right length of kerb has to be identified before anything is submitted.
What does the parking actually cost?
A bay suspension is thirty pounds per day per bay, and a dispensation to park on yellow lines is thirty pounds per vehicle per day. Business removals are on the council list of accepted reasons for a suspension, so it is a straightforward application once the location is right.
Why does the location need checking in person?
Because the council says so. Manchester states that it is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure a site visit is undertaken before applying, and advises against relying on online mapping tools such as Google Maps as they may not be accurate at the time of the application. Bay markings and restrictions change; images do not keep up.
Can you move us outside office hours?
Yes. Evening, weekend and overnight working are all available and are agreed at the survey so the window sits inside the quotation. Note that out of hours working carries its own rates, so it is priced in from the start rather than added afterwards.
How is the price worked out?
From a written inventory agreed at the survey, covering what is moving and the access at both ends. The quotation is built on that document. If what we collect matches it, the figure stands. If the inventory has grown or the access turns out different from what was described, we re-quote before starting rather than invoicing a surprise afterwards.
What is not included unless we agree it?
Dismantling and reassembling furniture, and disconnecting or reconnecting anything plumbed, gassed or wired in, including computers, servers and phone systems. Packing, materials, specialist handling and storage are all available and priced separately. Anything added on the day rather than at the survey attracts a short notice rate.
What cannot go on the vehicle?
Fuel, gas canisters, solvents, paints and aerosols. Cash, deeds, certificates and anything irreplaceable are better travelling with you. Furniture must be emptied before we arrive, including drawers and cabinets, and packed boxes should not exceed twenty kilos with anything over fifteen marked clearly.
What happens if something is damaged?

Fragile items are only covered where professionally packed by us, so that is worth settling at the survey.
Do we need to be there on the day?
Someone with authority to make decisions does. Access, load order and where things land at the other end all need a person who can answer, and it saves considerably more time than it costs. Naming that person at the survey is one of the quieter reasons a move finishes early.
What if the date moves?
Tell us as early as you can. Cancellation and rescheduling terms are published in writing, and a paid deposit secures the date, vehicles and crew and is not returned.
